 From December 3rd to December 4th, Mr. Wang, General Manager of TATU Highway Group Co., Ltd., was invited to attend the consultation meeting on the highway engineering industry standard "General Technical Specifications for Highway Traffic Markings" held in Jinan. The meeting was hosted by the Highway Research Institute of the Ministry of Transport and co-organized by Shandong Expressway Transportation Construction Group Co., Ltd. More than 30 experts and scholars from all over the country also attended the meeting.

During the discussion session regarding the "General Technical Specifications for Highway Traffic Markings," General Manager Wang offered 31 professional suggestions and revisions. He stated that China's road, bridge, and urban construction should also have corresponding types of road marking paint, construction methods (equipment and processes), and construction safety measures. A general technical specification aimed at standardizing road marking materials, construction, and safety should ensure its content aligns with international standards, fully reflects the latest developments in materials, equipment, and processes, and possess a moderate degree of forward-lookingness, without being overly... The traditional methods of using conventional materials, equipment, processes, and safety measures must be considered. High-quality road markings stem not only from the type of marking paint, but also from the sophistication of the paint production facilities, raw material and product testing methods, marking effect testing methods, and the equipment used for construction. With the phased shift in China's road construction from "construction-oriented" to "construction and maintenance in tandem," and then to "maintenance-oriented," road marking construction on existing roads will become the "main arena" for marking. This necessitates minimizing the impact on traffic and ensuring better safety for construction workers and drivers. This requires a shift away from the traditional methods of "manual pushing and pulling, pedestrians scrambling along the road, and placing signs and cones," and towards replacement with large-scale construction equipment such as marking trucks and standardized safety measures such as crash buffer vehicles.

 This revision of the General Technical Specifications for Road Marking Construction, undertaken to address the overall lag between the development level of road markings and the level of road construction, is a far-reaching systemic project amidst the current chaotic state of road markings in China. Despite its complexity and large workload, it is essential to ensure comprehensiveness, systematicity, and standardization. Mr. Wang's professional insights and forward-looking, constructive suggestions were affirmed and recognized by many participating experts.
