Hot-melt road marking paint differs from other road markings in that it contains no solvent volatiles. During construction, electrostatic powder is heated and melted, then applied to the floor using specialized equipment. After solidification, it becomes a glossy marking. Therefore, its coating principle does not rely on the evaporation of solutions found in conventional road marking paints, but rather on physical solidification and drying. Because hot-melt paint possesses characteristics such as ultra-fast drying, strong abrasion resistance, and nighttime reflectivity, its application scope and uses are gradually expanding. It is suitable for urban roads and key roads with heavy traffic.

Because hot-melt road marking paint has a much thicker coating than other marking paints (generally, a thickness of 1.5-2mm requires approximately 4-5 kg/m²), although its price is more affordable than other building coatings, the total cost per area for manufacturers is very high, typically several times higher than that of normal temperature marking paint. This makes it less suitable for use in less developed areas. Furthermore, hot-melt paint has higher requirements for real-time road conditions and is used on new road surfaces. It is not suitable for asphalt roads that have experienced long-term aging and cracking.
In my country, road marking paints include indoor temperature marking paint and hot-melt paint, both of which are in a rapid development stage and differ significantly from those in developed countries. The research content of our road marking construction paint involves using software and other experimental instruments, and under the innovation of modern scientific and technological theories, to develop chemical raw materials such as epoxy resin for building coatings. We use modern production methods such as copolymerization, modification, and blending to manufacture epoxy resin raw materials for road marking construction paint, and then scientifically research and develop new types of road marking construction paint with outstanding characteristics, high quality and low price, suitable for Chinese roads.

Our main goal is to improve the corrosion resistance and water resistance of the coating while ensuring the basic properties of the coating, reducing the evaporation of organic solvents during the process, and improving the adhesion of the coating. Hot-melt road marking paint is powdery at room temperature and contains no volatile organic solvents. During construction, it is heated to melt, then applied to the floor using specialized equipment, and the coating solidifies physically. The application results are excellent:
(1) The film dries quickly: It can be opened to traffic within 1-3 minutes after application, and construction can even be completed without obstructing traffic.
(2) Excellent performance: The hot-melt coating produces clear, sharp, and bright lines with a strong sense of depth.
(3) Excellent wear resistance: The coating is durable, and the road markings can last up to 2 years.
(4) Nighttime reflectivity: Because a reflective glass material is added to the hot-melt coating, glass beads can be scattered on the coating surface during construction, resulting in faster reflectivity, reducing traffic accidents, and conforming to modern traffic regulations.
